Jurassic Creatures: See Dinosaurs in Melbourne!

Some of the biggest, noisiest dinosaurs Melbourne has ever seen are stomping their way to town and have set up camp at Jurassic Creatures in Cheltenham from 16 June – 9 July 2023!

In Cheltenham (next to Westfield Southland Shopping Centre), you’ll find a prehistoric world with life-sized dinosaurs coming alive with animatronics along with other dinosaur-related activities.

Hi res x

The dinosaurs are outdoors and the activities are indoors and under the Big Top. Note that the attraction is very noisy with the roaring dinosaurs and the mass of people – so if you have a child who is intimidated by noises and crowds it’s probably not going to be an experience they will enjoy.

Jurassic Creatures

The main attractions at this Jurassic exhibit Melbourne were definitely the moving, roaring dinosaurs. There are more than 30 creatures on display, with good information boards about the different species.

To accompany the animatronics there are various dinosaur-related activities, including fossil displays, dinosaur arts and crafts, a giant world bug display, dinosaur jumping castles, Jurassic ball pit and block village, dinosaur egg photo opportunities and walking dinosaurs.

Kids of any age will enjoy dressing up in goggles and lab coats to excavate their own dinosaur fossil from a plaster egg, using a hammer and miniature “chisels”.

If you get peckish hot food, popcorn, fairy floss and drinks are available, though you can also bring your own snacks inside.

On most days there are sessions for this Jurassic Melbourne event at 11am, 2pm and 6pm. Each session runs for up to 2 hours and you can enter at any time during the 2 hours. At the end of your 2 hours, your session closes, and doors close.

Jurassic Creatures is a fun interactive display for kids who are interested in dinosaurs and not too scared of loud noises and life-like animatronics. Don’t miss it these Winter School Holidays!

Jurassic Creatures tickets are $38.18 for everyone (under 3s are free).

The $68.77 VIP ticket includes all of the general admission activities plus

  • Front of line entry
  • Free Gift valued at $25.00
  • Food Voucher – Nuggets & Chips or Hot Dog & Chips with a drink

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text el_class=”thon-hot-tips-panel”]HOT Tips:

  • prebook your tickets as sessions do sell out, especially during school holidays;
  • tickets are timed and sessions are for 2 hours. You’ll probably spend around 1-2 hours there depending on how many activities you participate in;
  • tickets allow unlimited activities;
  • sideshow games cost extra;
  • there can be a long queue for the jumping castles as only a small number of children are allowed on at a time due to safety reasons;
  • the attraction is very noisy and can get crowded so most suitable for kids 3+ years;
  • kids under 3 years old are free;
  • Not really suitable for babies in prams or toddlers who can’t walk yet, as it’s not safe to let them crawl in the walkways or jump on the bouncy structures. The constant roaring and music may be pretty over-stimulating too;
  • popcorn, fairy floss and drinks are available onsite, as well as a van selling hot dogs, nuggets and the like, but BYO if you’re after something healthy.
