These Spring school holidays during the weekdays Sheraton Melbourne is again offering Kids Can Cook, a children’s afternoon tea and hands-on themed food decorating workshop for little ones. This season’s theme is ‘Under the Sea’ in collaboration with SEA Life Melbourne Aquarium!

The afternoon tea is actually held over lunchtime 12-2pm, perfect for hungry little squids.

Enter from the main Little Collins Street entrance then head upstairs to Little Collins Kitchen.

We are invited to try out the Kids Can Cook high tea and have a great time eating, colouring and decorating a foodie ‘aquarium’ with the Sheraton’s pastry chefs.

The event starts with a fancy afternoon tea stand for adults and a special menu for children.

The kids are very engaged by the colouring-in!

The afternoon tea menu for adults features two freshly baked scones, a delicious array of sandwiches, savoury items and sweet treats, all served on a traditional three-tiered stand. It comes with a glass of sparkling wine (or sparkling water in my case) for $59.

For each adult, one child aged 5-12 years dines free and each additional child is $25. The kids’ menu features a choice of sandwiches, a HUGE bowl of fries and carrot, celery and cucumber sticks with yoghurt dip.

Kids get a fizzy bright blue drink in a cool bottle. To be honest my kids don’t like the drink but it looks good!

At 12:30pm the children move to a separate table to make three underwater creatures.

With a little help from adults they make a squid out of marzipan, butter cake and smarties, a clam shell complete with (lychee popping) pearls and slip a tiny fish into a tiny blue mousse pond.
