A Magical Unicorn Children’s High Tea, Hotel Chadstone Melbourne

Are you in the mood for a magical High Tea experience these Autumn school holidays? Hotel Chadstone Melbourne invites you to come along to an enchanting children’s high tea event that will transport you to a magical world filled with a delightful selection of savoury treats, sweets and more!

Running from 9 April to 22 April 2022, Hotel Chadstone’s Altus Rooftop is hosting an all-inclusive Unicorn High Tea that features crowd favourite sandwiches, savouries and of course scones, all presented in a three-tier golden stand.

The kids and I were invited to this unique children’s afternoon tea – here’s a rundown of the amazing experience and what you can expect during your visit!

As soon as you walk into Hotel Chadstone‘s restaurant expect a glamorous, plush entrance, far away from the hubbub of the shopping centre.

You enter a beautifully decorated room high above the streetscape – you’ll be able to see all the way out to the bay from the floor to ceiling windows.

Settle down in your comfy chairs and step into a world that’s full of magical bubble gum cake, fairy bread and, of course, unicorns!

As we are seated the kids are presented with a clever colour-changing soft drink made of butterfly pea flowers. Add a little bit of citrus (in this case, lime juice) and watch the colour change from purple to pink!

For the kids the delicious goodies start with the savouries: Mystic Rainbow ham and cheese bagels, deconstructed cucumber sandwiches and Starlight chicken sliders. Plus of course the obligatory fairy bread!

The middle level features classic corn dogs – crumbed hot dogs on a stick drizzled with tomato sauce and ketchup.

The kids ooh and ahh over the top level of sweets – frosted pony pops, magical bubble gum cake and strawberry unicorn hearts.

Adults are served Hotel Chadstone‘s traditional high tea set featuring food that’s a little bit beyond the norm – not a crustless sandwich to be seen!

The modern three-tier stand presents four variations on classic afternoon tea sandwich fillings, a second tier with an empanada and croquette, while the top tier is a selection of handcrafted desserts.

Everyone’s scones are served separately, warmed in a napkin envelope and presented with house made jam, lemon curd and heavy cream. The kids receive two mini scones each – one chocolate chip, one with colourful sprinkles, while each adult receives a plain scones and fruit scone.

Hotel Chadstone‘s Unicorn High Tea is priced at $45 per child. At least one paying adult must be part of each booking. The standard high tea is $79 per adult and comes with the option to select from an expansive beverage menu, including champagne at an additional cost.
