HOT: Chesterfield Farm, Scoresby

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Chesterfield Farm Scoresby is one of a few privately owned animal farms Melbourne has to offer. It gives city families an opportunity to experience country life!

Chesterfield Farm

Chesterfield Farm (sometimes misspelt as ‘Chesterville Farm’) is a working Melbourne farm that allows kids to get close to animals and to see how a farm operates. It’s set incongruously right next to the Eastlink Freeway but you’d never know it as it’s quiet, green and spacious.

During your animal farm Melbourne visit you can feed kangaroos, emus, ostriches, deer, goats, camels, horses, donkeys and even llamas (from the feed bags $1.50)….

On weekends there are more activities and they occur several times throughout the day instead of just once.

It really is one of the most hands-on, engaging farms to visit in Melbourne!

I highly recommend that you take a rumbly tractor ride around the paddocks. The wagon accommodates around 20 people and the ride happens only twice a day at 10:15am and 12:30pm, so get in line early on busy days.

The children’s farm tractor ride is accompanied by commentary and takes around 10 minutes. Baby 2.0 insists that he sees unicorns!

There’s a small cafe/kiosk that sells some hot pies and sausage rolls, coffees, snacks and fresh eggs and milk from the farm. The milk is pasteurised but not homogenised so you’ll find a thick layer of yellowish cream on top, just like Grandma used to drink! You can also buy cheese made from the farm’s cows and honey from the bees down near the creek.

Chesterfield Children’s Farm is a great day out for families who want a hands-on farm visit Melbourne experience.
