HOT: Peninsula Hot Springs, Mornington Peninsula

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]

Peninsula Hot Springs is a natural hot spring and day spa centre set out in native bushland in Fingal, on the Mornington Peninsula – only 90-minutes from Melbourne and is a truly idyllic setting. It’s the perfect place to relax and treat yo’ self – and if you have kids in tow it’s actually great for kids too.

The general Bath House bathing area features over 20 open-air natural thermal mineral pools set out over a hillside, each with a different theme and with water ranging between 37°C and 43°C.

The mineral springs are said to help skin conditions, improve circulation, alleviate muscle stiffness and articular rheumatism – but mainly we’re just there to have a relaxing experience.

You can move from pool to pool and enjoy features such as the cave pool, reflexology walk, Turkish steam bath (Hamam), sauna, cold plunge pools and massaging thermal mineral showers.

Before 10am children can access the stunning hilltop pool with its panoramic views of the Mornington Peninsula. It’s a unique and amazing experience and shouldn’t be missed. After 10am the area is for adults only.

If you are likely to be moving from bath to bath frequently then a bathrobe (rather than a towel) is essential as it can be very cold and breezy as soon as you get out of the water.

Also, I wouldn’t bother with thongs if you’re chasing kids as you won’t have time to get them on and off and will spend the whole time carrying them in your hand! Ditto with the water bottle – it’s important to keep hydrated but there are water fountains around and it’s one less thing to carry.

The family bathing area is perfect for families as the water is shallow and less hot. There are big double swing beds and family change rooms next to the pool and it’s right next to the cafe.

There are cute little baby baths so even the littlest person doesn’t have to miss out!

I find the experience with kids relaxing in bursts. I spend more time than I’d like chasing Baby 2.0 in and out of pools as he decides he want to jump from one to another and generally trying to keep some calm around him. Occasionally he’s just happy to sit and then I get to relax too!

Those without young kids can enjoy The Spa Dreaming Centre,  a more relaxing option without the squealing children. It is reserved for guests 16 years or older and offers a choice of thermal mineral pools, indoor private bathing pavilions, outdoor private pools, saunas, a Hamam and spa treatments.

During peak times (Friday to Monday and holiday periods) it is essential to pre-book your bathing; though to avoid disappointment it’s best to book during off-peak times too.

If you’re planning to spend the day there then you can BYO picnic or the onsite Bath House Cafe is convenient, offering their famous pizzas and other food that you can devour in your bathrobe!
